The Projects
Tenki-Mura offers 3 types of support, 13 projects in total, all of which let both young people and grown-ups benefit from cooperation between generations, learn together and design a better way of living.
Support for infants and children
Konpeito Nature Daycare
A daycare offering nature experiences for children aged 2,5 years and up. Three days a week (Wed/Thu/Fri), we board the bus and head to some of close to 100 different places, such as parks, where one can experience nature in Kusatsu/Ritto/Moriyama/Otsu area. As an open air daycare pioneer since 1990, we allow the children to play carefree in the rich fields and forests, growing up with "a healthy head and a smart body". The amount of past participants exceeds 1500 children. |

Konpeito Club
On Saturdays we gather together to play in the middle of nature with all our strength, in a mixed age group of small children and elementary school students. We travel by bus to places such as the Lake Biwa area, the alps south of the lake, Konze mountain, Kazura river etc, for varying activities: experiencing the nature, cross-generational exchange, creative and cultural activities etc. Children build their strenght through playing, and the students of Shiga University come to learn with us. |

Day Camp Wanpaku
Day Camp Wanpaku is a one-day program aimed for young children and elementary school students. During spring, summer and winter holidays, we board the bus and head to the mountains, villages, riverside, lake Biwa or fields to play with all our heart, aiming to grow into strong and sturdy children. Summertime activities include fishing and playing in the river; in the spring we climb mountains and build secret bases; during winter we play in the snow - fully experiencing the changing nature through each of the four seasons. |

Summer Camp
Targeted for young children and elementary school students, our summer camp allows children to experience the lifestyle of the past generations for 2-3 days at the old farm house "Zutto". We swim, play with boats, fish, dive etc at the nearby Adogawa river. By doing farm work on the field, chopping wood, cooking with a hearth, doing bamboo crafting etc, children can learn about the traditional ways of living. The total of past participants exceeds 250 people. Grown up participants of Konpeito Nature Daycare join the camp as volunteers. |

Juvenile Disaster Prevention Training Program
We are preparing a disaster prevention training program aimed for children on the lower grades of elementary school. The training is conducted through familiar plays and games. We are working on turning the Konpeito Nature Nursery School's Sports Day event into Disaster prevention program, by combining several children's events on the area. |
||||
Children Green Keepers
There are Green Keeper (緑の少年団) groups for elementary school children all around the country, but only two groups for small children nation-wide: one at Tenki-Mura, and another in Akita prefecture. As Children Green Keepers, we aim to grow up into persons with big hearts, who appreciate people and our birth places, by taking care and raising trees, protecting the forests. In addition to playing in the forests, we plant trees, go camping, experience carpenting, do cleaning, have fund-raisings and other activities to support environmental conservation. |

Support for parents and children
Farm House "Zutto" Events
We purchased a traditional house built around 150 years ago, located in Otsu, and named it "the old farm house Zutto". Culture, history and the lifestyle passed down from the old days allow this project's participants to learn the wisdom of living and techniques of the past, linking this project to the restoration of the region. Organized once a month on a holiday, Farm House Zutto events are a lifestyle heritage activity which let parents and children take a break from their everyday life and personally experience the traditional lifestyle. |
||||
Kusatsu Adventure Playground
Kusatsu Adventure Playground, taking place on the second sunday of the month, is targeted for children and their parents. At locations such as the old Kusatsu river, we burn bonfires, dig holes, climb the riverbanks, craft different things, etc. Adventure Playground is an event for strenghtening parent-child connection and encouraging communication between parents. We are expanding the Adventure Playground event, aiming to increase the amount of places where children can play outdoors. |

Kusatsu City Family Support Center
Family Support Center is an organization for both the people searching and offering help with childcare. "I have an urgent need for a babysitter!" "I'd like to help with childcare in the area!" At times like these, please register at Kusatsu City Family Support Center. We bring necessary people together at their times of need. Please join our fun events such as The Playground Event (Asobi hiroba) and Family Support Caravan group! |

Disaster Prevention Training Program for families
We have created a disaster prevention program for parents and small children, taking place at kindergartens, nursery schools, childcare events etc. By taking part in disaster prevention training while playing familiar games, children learn the right way to act and to not become overwhelmed at the times of disaster. We are holding a meeting in hopes to expand the Disaster Prevention Training Program in the area. |

A day service for elder people who wish to spend their time comfortably in a familiar place. Aiming to be a peaceful, home-like place where one can feel like they belong, we offer nursing care in a small group of 12 staff members. At Teru-Teru one does not only receive care, but also finds their own role, health and joy through participation in different activities. We do tea ceremony, field work and have social exchange with the children from Tenki-Mura. |
